Do I Live in a Watershed?

Yes! And, here's why - A watershed is the land area that drains to a common body of water such as a lake or river. Everyone -- whether living on a farm, in a city, or on the coast -- lives in a watershed and has an impact on its health. They are our ecological addresses and are important to our sense of place. Some watersheds are small and drain a few acres and some drain to expansive estuaries where rivers meet the sea. Watersheds supply drinking water, provide recreation and sustain life.

There are thirteen watershed associations in southeastern Massachusetts that are members of Watershed Action Alliance. They work to protect and restore our aquatic habitats and to ensure that future growth won't harm our natural assets, so that they will be here for the next generations Click on the icons on the map below for contact information.
