Fundraising for Water

Whether you are a small nonprofit already or just getting started, one of the keys to success in building capacity is the ability to raise funds either for your own organization or for projects you would like to see happen in your watersheds.  This session is meant to explore different kinds of fundraising and resources available to help us fundraise for clean, healthy water systems.

Moderator:

Samantha Woods is the Executive Director of the North and South Rivers Watershed Association. Ms Woods has been in this position for more than 12 years and has experience in grant writing, and event and major donor fundraising.

Panelists:

Bill Stanton, now retired, has worn many hats. He was Executive Director for the North and South Rivers Watershed Association, a professional fundraiser for The Trustees of the Reservation and the Boston Natural Areas Network, and worked on numerous political campaigns. Mr. Stanton can provide insight on how to run a major donor campaign.

Sarah Kelly is the Senior Program Officer for the Island Foundation. Sarah is in charge of overseeing the Island Foundations grant programs.  Ms. Kelly can provide insight on how grantmaking in foundations is accomplished.

A representative of the Executive Service Corps will be a panelist. The mission of the Corps is to enhance the overall impact of the nonprofit community by enabling organizations to operate more effectively to meet the needs of their constituencies.  They provide high quality, affordable consulting services utilizing a pool of experienced, dedicated, volunteer labor, namely senior level executives and professionals.

Chris Oddleifson is the CEO of Rockland Trust.  As a regional bank, Rockland Trust provides funding to nonprofits throughout Southeastern Massachusetts.  Mr. Oddleifson will provide insight on how banks decide where to put their community dollars.
